November is Pulmonary Hypertension awareness month.  You can read all about PH here on a previous post I wrote.  As you all know I was diagnosed with idiopathic PH, a disease that is incurable and has no known cause.  PH is often misdiagnosed or undiagnosed.  Fortunately I was at the hospital when my heart decided to give out.  My experience is unique in that it happened very quickly.  Most people have PH for years before even being considered for a transplant.

What can you do to help spread the word?

On September 25, 2008 the House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed H.R. 6568, the Tom Lantos Pulmonary Hypertension Research and Education Act.  Congress is preparing for a temporary, election season adjournment but now plan to return in mid-November.  Their staff will be available throughout that time to assist constituents. You can help by calling your senators and asking them to help pass the PH Research and Education Act before Senate adjourns for the year.
