Yesterday Beth and Carol made the 5 minute cake. Unfortunately we didn’t have all the necessary ingredients. Instead of the oil (which was used up making yummy pot stickers) we substituted apple sauce, and for sugar we substituted brown sugar because we only had white sugar in cubes. It tasted okay… not bad, but not great. Here are some pictures from yesterday’s cake:
Determined to make it the correct way, we bought white sugar and oil. What a difference! The cake was fabulous. The cocoa is a european dark chocolate sipping cocoa, and I used 60% cocoa chocolate chips. Warm moist dark chocolate cake with pockets of melted chocolate chips… I don’t think I’ll ever buy a box of Betty Crocker again.
