Today is 6 months since transplant. It feels like forever ago and just yesterday all at the same time. I’m doing well – no major complications, no rejection. I have 3 sessions of speech therapy scheduled, and in the summer I am having the surgery for my paralyzed vocal cord.
UCSF has developed a new protocol for heart-lung transplant patients. They’ve decided to follow our hearts as well as our lungs – from what I remember the old schedule only had lung follow/check ups. Next week I see my cardiologist for my 6 month checkup, and in the beginning of April I’m having a left heart catheterization done for a baseline measurement. Once I’m 2 years out I’ll be doing a lung ct scan, brochoscopy + lung biopsy, a cardiac stress test and an echo cardiogram every year.
