inHappy New Year! May 2013 bring lots of health and happiness.
It seems I haven’t blogged since Thanksgiving. I meant to blog more often, but so it goes. The good news is that my health has remained stable, give or take a couple bouts of self-diagnosed rhino virus.
I pretty much spent the month of December watching t.v. I finally watched the 1st dvd from season one of Castle. It was a Netflix rental that sat around my apt for over two months. Unfortunately Netflix (nor Amazon) doesn’t stream the series online. Watching it one dvd at a time was not going to happen, so I downloaded the show from iTunes and got started.
I am now caught up to the current season, 5. If you haven’t watched it, the series is about a mystery writer who follows around a NYC homicide detective in order to do research for his books. They solve odd crimes and are often in ridiculous scenarios. The two major story lines are the relationship between the two and the murder of the detective’s mother. I think the charm of the show is the cheesy banter and ridiculous suppositions. I would describe the series as being fun.
The other series I’ve been watching is Bones. Fortunately Netflix streams it. It’s currently in it’s 8th season. The series is about a forensic anthropologist and FBI agent who identifies the bones/remains of unidentified bodies for murder investigations. The series is very loosely based on the life and writings of novelist and forensic anthropologist Kathy Reiches, who also produces the show. I just started season two, so I don’t think I’ll be watching it in real time anytime soon. While there are humorous moments, I would say Bones is a drama. It’s very interesting and absorbing watching how and what is uncovered just by analyzing the remains of a body.
It doesn’t seem as if the two shows are linked in any way, but they have a lot of parallels. I suppose there’s only so much murder one can think up. And, often times they share guest characters. It’s interesting seeing a familiar face portray different roles.
I’m off to watch an episode of Bones and finish a stuffed animal.

Here’s a sneak peek of a stuffed toy for Carol – can you guess what animal it may be?
